Look, if you play poker, you got donk — and if you don’t got donk, you’re not a poker player.
Einstein wrote his field equations about spacetime gravitation, but if he’d written them about poker, then much like one of my finest queen-jack-open-ender-all-in-3bets, I am 29% sure that’s one of the fundamental laws he would’ve come up with.
The occasional donk move is part of the game. We’ve all made supersonically stupid bets before, and if you haven’t then you’re doing something wrong.
There’s already a ton of strategy advice on the net — and in those “book” things — to tell you that the way you play poker isn’t perfect. But you already knew that, that’s why you were reading the advice in the first place.
Ultimately, the only thing you learn from poker books is that you can’t learn the game from poker books. What you really have to do, is hold onto your nipples and fucking go for it. Because in poker, there is something more important than any system or theory…
You gotta love the game.
And even though you gotdonk, you gotta love your game too. It needs to be fed, watered, cared for, sometimes punched in the head for costing you money, but eventually forgiven, and welcomed back lovingly until it stops working again and needs another kicking.
Where is this going? I don’t know, I didn’t plan any more than “you gotta love the game” — that was my big intro. But basically, gotdonk.net is my new blog.
It’s a poker blog that’s less about telling you how you should or shouldn’t play the game and hopefully more about inspiring the same fascination with it that I have, and provoking that all-important desire to play and learn. That’s half of the “pokerotica” thing…
So I’ll probably be taking thoughts from everywhere and anywhere I find interesting, and relating them to poker in whatever way I can. Oh and the other half was just an excuse for gratuitous female nudity. After all, this is the internet — and we like boobies.
