Note to Self: Don’t play like a dildo.

2 hours of 4xNL100 yesterday = +$287 — 3 hours of 4xNL100 today = -$41

Today was going well (+$200) until I got cheated for $100 by some idiot catching 2 running hearts all-in with JJ vs my QQ on the flop — after I made an elite shove into what could’ve been Kings or Aces. Then I went for the old 2-4-suited and cost myself ~$160. oops. o_O

majc (Button) ($164.45)
SB ($70.50)
BB ($249.15)
UTG ($89.20)
MP ($97.80)

Preflop: majc is Button with [4h][2h]

1 fold, MP calls $1, majc raises to $4.50, 1 fold, BB raises to $11, MP folds, majc calls $11

*** Questionable — but we’re deep, folding is for poofs, and he’s a dork. Anyway, I’m hardly ever folding my button for $6.50 into $17…

Flop: — [2d][8s][7c] — ($23.50, 2 players)

BB bets $15, majc calls $15

*** Calling one street here in case he has [As][Ks] and because a 2 or 4 is money-time against a big pair.

Turn: — [4d] — ($53.50, 2 players)

BB checks, majc bets $38.50

*** Wanted him to shove Aces or Kings so I did my best acting to look like a defensive JJ or QQ.

BB raises to $223.15 (all-in), majc calls $138.45 (all-in)

River: — [4c] — ($330.40, 2 players, 2 all-in)

BB shows [8s][8h], Full House: 8s over 4s.

majc shows [4h][2h], Full House, 4s over 2s.

BB win the pot ($327.40) with Full House: 8s over 4s.

This dude was one of those supertight players who, 99 times out of 100, isn’t going to 3bet 88 and is nearly always going to try to trap players like me. Instead, not only does Captain Cockbag 3bet his 8s from the BB, but he follows it up with $15 when he hits top set.

Obviously he must’ve felt threatened by my general aura of awesomeness… Yep, that’s definitely what it was. All in all, a pretty tragic hand and I’m now allergic to 4-2-suited.

    Thanks dude.
I just went to your site and read a couple of things — I like “Only Optimists Win at Poker“.
I think understanding and trusting your unconscious cues is by far the most important part of the game — A five year old could do the maths you need in poker.
